Background

The United Arab Emirates and the United States signed a major agreement to work together on artificial intelligence and energy, focusing on innovation and advanced industry. They plan to strengthen the use of smart manufacturing technologies and expand capabilities in automation and robotics.

The agreement was signed at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi in the presence of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed. Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive of Adnoc, and Executive Chairman of XRG, signed on behalf of the UAE. Doug Burgum, US Secretary of the Interior and Chairman of the National Energy Dominance Council, represented the United States.

Under the pact, both nations will collaborate to promote knowledge sharing, capacity building, and the integration of AI into industrial processes. The initiative also promotes sustainable energy and helps develop smart, efficient production systems.

Dr Al Jaber said the agreement reflects the UAE’s goal of building strong international partnerships that drive progress and innovation. He emphasized that the collaboration demonstrates the nation’s long-term commitment to developing a knowledge-based and technology-driven economy.

US Secretary Doug Burgum said the agreement shows the strong partnership between the US and the UAE. He added that the deal continues the commitments made during President Donald Trump’s visit to the UAE earlier this year.

The agreement marks an important step in the growing relationship between the two countries and opens the way for future advancements in clean energy and artificial intelligence.
